Cult of Queer Movement was started in 2023 as a way to carve out a social dance scene in RTP for LGBTQIA+ folks. The goal was (and remains!) to return dance to the community, and teach appreciation vs appropriation.

CQM purposely diverts and divests from the mainstream Latin social dance scene, and seeks to create more spaces where QTBIPOC people are centered and safe. The space is intentionally queer! While allies are welcome, they are encouraged to donate money to the “piggy bank” in allyship.

Cult of Queer exists to uplift queer community, and hires only queer instructors (and sometimes politically queer allies ;)) Our classes and paid events are always on a sliding scale, with a “piggy bank” fund that holds free slots for those who want to boogie but are saving their pennies.

Gender has no role here!It is none of our business whether you want to lead or follow. Feel free to explore either role when you come to class.
